To answer your quesitons

NO immunizations: We chose to do this because the growing risks it is having on babies. Some of the immunizations are necessary and we will have them done but a lot of the immunizations do contain mercury and also a live version of the illness which can also be spread to the baby. I know this is a topic that might get a lot of people stirring, but I am living proof that people can live normal HEALTHY lives with out being immunized.

C-section only when absolutely necessary: I am really really only planning on having this baby natural. Most of my friends who have had one C-section have had to have the rest C-section as well, and I don't want the pain of recovery and the more natural I feel the better. Some Dr's are very big into C-sections because they are faster. The rate of C-sections has increased in the past 5 years, and has increased 70% between the hours of 4pm-7am because Dr's want to get home. We will defiantly do it if the baby is in distress and if it will save my life or the babies. We are just not quick to jump.

NO Inducing: This we are very sure about. The meds they use in inducing is proven to cause autism in many cases. Also producing a hormone that your body isn't producing for a reason doesn't work for us, when it can come naturally. Plus there are a lot of natural ways to get the baby out faster that we have been considering.

NO epidural or spinal block: This is a no brainier. Although the pain maybe excruciation, totally worth it. Also women in my family have never been able to have one because they have babies in less then 30 min! So no time:)

Dr. that lives close to the hospital: Again this is important being that my family history are fast baby producers.

NO epesiodomy (or not quick to cut): They say its more healthy to not cut, but harder to heal. I am just wanting to try as much as I can on my own and if they are HAVING to cut they do it at an angle and not straight down.

Allows genetic testing: This we should have really done before we got pregnant because my family carries a genetic disorder called Trisomy 8. But we didn't do and and are hoping its not the case with our baby. So testing now is important for us to make sure the baby is ok. If the baby has this disorder we HAVE to abort the pregnancy. But we aren't even thinking of that.

NO Internal monitor: This we are on the fence on mostly because the effects that it can have on the baby. The tenderness of the head and the growing of the pallet. My Dr said its usually not necessary, so we shouldn't have to worry about it.

NO newborn eye drops: This we are still debating on. Mostly used to stop eye infections, but the drop they don't tell you about is the one that blurrs the baby's vision that makes it hard for them to breast feed right away, also its to protect the baby from any STD you might have. We don't have any of those so we aren't pushing for the drops. The cream is important and that is what prevents eye infections but you have 6 hours to use that, so after the first breast feeding.

Circumcised at birth: Some dr's make you wait a couple weeks for this, but we feel birth is already traumatic why not add this to it:)

Allows full birthing plan and Allows a Dula: As busy as it is in the hospital having someone who knows your plan there helps a lot. And we do realize its only a "plan" but we plan to stick to it as much as possible.

Only cloth diapers in and out of hospital: This is important to us because of the environment. A lot of people will debate this because the use of water for cloth, but there is more water then rooms in the land fills. Also babies potty train faster in cloth because its more uncomfortable. We do understand this takes a lot of time and commitment but we are following through with this. They have great services that comes and picks up the dirty ones and brings you clean ones.

These are just a few to begin with.

  1. I'm very interested to see how all of this turns out! :) With the eye issue: babies' vision is crap anyway, so I really don't think they need to see to breastfeed. You just grab their head and direct them on...it's more feel.
